Company emailed me a week ago asking me to come in for an interview soon, then proceeded to ghost me after I replied. What should I do?
A week ago today I received an email from the hiring team at my favorite retail store on Earth replying to my application for a job there. The guy mentioned they'd like to bring me in for an interview within the next couple of days at my local store and asked if I could send back some good days and times I'd be available. I emailed back almost immediately saying I was open anytime, and nothing has been said since. No email back, no phone call from the local store, nothing.
Last Thursday I called the store directly and relayed everything that had happened to who I was speaking with, and was told that he'd schedule a callback with the hiring manager to get back to me. That hasn't happened yet either. Friday I emailed back yet again, saying I was still interested and asked if I was doing everything correctly since nobody had gotten back to me. Still nothing back.
What should I do at this point? I know retail is generally terrible, but as someone who's done it for years and loves this store, I'd absolutely love to work here and I don't want to give up, but it's very disheartening when they express interest and proceed to ghost you. Would calling back again tomorrow be too much? At this point I don't even care if they say no, I just want a solid answer either way. I have another job offer or two pending, and if this isn't going to work, I'd like to know soon so I can accept one of those.
