So after spending almost 2 months applying for jobs, only to get rejected, receiving offers from completely unrelated fields and MLMs, and dodging multiple scams; I finally got an internship offer from a small web marketing consulting company. While it's unpaid, it will keep my OPT status active and allow me to buy more time to pad out my portfolio and learning UX skills.
In the meantime, I am looking to go freelance to pay my bills as well. It isn't what I initially set out for, but this is still a major progress.
