I applied for a new job two weeks ago. After a Skype interview last Friday and an in person this Wednesday, they offered me the position today.
They badly want me to start two weeks from this Monday, so they rushed things a bit, and I accepted the offer today. Upon verbally accepting over the phone before I signed the offer, I told them about a surgery I may have coming up that will cause me to be out 3-4 weeks.
I only found out this possibility this past Monday. I’m ecstatic about the job but worried they may think telling them after accepting the offer was a shitty way to do it. I told them I’d give them more details when I knew early next week.
I also plan on resigning Monday which isn’t two weeks from my last day, but only 11 days. My old job has been great to me through cancer treatment. (To be fair, no one who would have cared about my resignation was in the office today)
Feeling a little guilty about the resignation and not telling new company about surgery till after the offer. They didn’t seem too worried about it. Should I feel guilty for how I went about this?
