I considering applying for a job in my field, but the only thing holding me back is the posting saying that the applicant must be fluent (reading, writing and speaking) the foreign language. I can only fluently speak the language as I grew up speaking it with my family, but I don't know how to read or write that language at all.
Other than that, I fit all of their other requirements. I have experience in the field, I have an advanced degree in the field and have the certification they are looking for. I applied for a different job in this company a few weeks ago and had a phone interview with them. They told me that my background was very relevant to their organization, but I just didn't have the experience for the level II position that I applied for. The interviewer mentioned that I would be a really good candidate for a level I position in that role, but there aren't any openings currently. So they still gave me a phone interview knowing that I didn't have their required experience.
Should I apply for this new position anyways and let them disqualify me or just move on?
