I’ve been working at a store since the beginning of May now. Hours slowly climbed to about 15 hours a week (2-3 shifts), until 2 weeks ago when it suddenly dropped to only 1 shift a week. And the hours have continued to stay that way for 4 weeks now (since they schedule 2 weeks in advance). Obviously I won’t know for sure until I talk to the scheduling manager, but why? I have a couple of reasons I can think of:
-
Asking for 6 days off just a month into job. I asked for 6 days off in August two months in advance. I wanted to go to a concert/convention thing and with the flight to and from there it would end up taking 6 days. Can work punish me for asking 6 days off the schedule when I have no vacation hours?

Being exactly 1 minute late for a lot of shifts. I tend to arrive 10 minutes early to work, but I try to be on time as possible to actually start working. If I walk from the employee break area at exactly the time I start, I usually end up being 1 minute late by the time I get to the punch in clock. Is it better to start working early and get paid a few minutes more? Policy says I can clock in up to 10 minutes early without needing supervisor override.

Taking home the free discount coupons they have. I have taken home the free discount coupons they have a couple of times. I am not sure whether it was caught on camera. It is a discount coupon that you have to spend over a certain amount to get it. I’m not sure if it counts as stealing, but I have had a few customers ask for them as well, saying other cashiers give it to them without issue. Sometimes customers don’t like to take their receipts which is why there are leftovers sometimes.
