All,
Next week I have my third and final interview for a position that will double both my salary and my commission. I am looking to the r/jobs community for just a bit of assistance.
I have worked for Company A for two years and this is my ONLY experience in this industry. I am interviewing for Company B, which is in the top ten in the industry but growing at 47% YoY—which is crazy right now.
A good friend of mine also worked at Company A with me and Company B poached him. He was with Company A for 14 months, that is literally the sum of his work experience out of college. This is important information for a bit further down.
My final interview is a phone interview with the Vice President of the Company and my friend told me: “One of the first questions he’ll ask you is, ‘Why should we hire someone who only has two years of experience?’
I asked him what HIS answer was but he got hired over a year ago and couldn’t remember.
How can I leverage my lack of experience in a way that seems enticing without saying: “Well you hired my buddy who had less experience and it turned out well.”
Thanks for your help, r/jobs!
