Interview: « Why are you leaving current job?» : does being positive really makes me an attractive candidate?
I’m looking to change job at the moment because I’m not quite satisfied at my current employment (way underpaid plus I hate those « openspace » offices). I got an interview for a job at another place which seems nice.
I’m fairly sure I’ll get this question: « why are you leaving? » or « why are you seeking for a new job? », etc... I’ve search everywhere and it seems (vast majority or answers) that I should speak positively about my current position. That kind of makes sense to me.
But this is where I need more explanation: won’t saying things like « I love where I am » or « I’m not intensively looking for a job » will lower my credibility as a potential candidate? Won’t they tell themselves « Well, looks like he’s not serious nor really interested »?
I really do have trouble understanding how being positive about my current employer will make me an attractive candidate. Can you please help me ? Perhaps I really did not thought this through.
Thank you. Sorry for my so-so english ;(
