How to ask my manager for a full-time position?

I graduated from college last year. I'm in a ~5-month internship, ending the first week of September, for a large company (500-1000 employees).

This company has Spring/ Summer/ Fall internship programs. My internship is in no relation to those. It's a one-off. During the job interview and my second week there, my hiring manager mentioned that this internship can lead to a full-time position (this was also mentioned in the job description). I don't believe the same promise have been made to those in the seasonal internship programs.

I have a feeling I'm going to be hired, so I haven't been applying to jobs. There have been multiple hints here and there that I'm going to be hired, including increased responsibilities. I know there is room for me because there used to be 2 full-time positions of this role in the team, now there is only one (my hiring manager). He's definitely overworked.

But I would like a peace of mind and ask my hiring manager about being hired full-time, especially since I don't want to deal with the stress of resume/ cover letters/ applying/ preparing for interviews all over again.

Trouble is I'm having trouble with the wording of asking my manager. We meet every Tuesday for a check-in. I want to do it by this week or next, because if I don't get a positive response I'm gonna need to start applying soon.

This is all I've got so far: "So it's almost the end of my internship..."

Please help. Everything else I've come up with so far sounds so stiff and awkward.

Also, not sure if this matters but I don't know who would do the actual hiring. It could either be my manager or the head of our team.
