How bad is it to ask for a week off after only one day at your new job?

I just got a job at a grocery store, it’s minimum wage hourly. I got invited to go on a week long camping trip in exactly a week and I’d love to make it, but I didn’t mention the trip when I was getting hired. Should I just ask my manager if I could take the week off? Should I tell them a grandparent across the country passed away so I’m flying out for the funeral? Any better excuses?
