Long story short graduated in Spring 2015 didn’t get my first real position until Spring 2017. Still currently at my job and feel like I’m pretty well established in the position I’m in being there for over 2 years. Feel like I’m trusted and given some more difficult assignments which I like. I like the stability it’s brought me and don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.
Anyways between when I graduated and starting my first real job all I really had to show was my seasonal summer college job which I still actually do on weekends and a short stint in a seasonal retail position. And I take blame for the gap I was not all prepared when it came to job searching and my mental health was a huge mess during college. I got put on anxiety medication while I was in school. I’m fortunate that my current position doesn’t often flare up my anxiety levels only every once in awhile. I’m fortunate that my job basically fell in my lap and I’ve been there for over 2 years and don’t plan to leave anytime soon. It was dumb luck and I’m not sure I truly deserved to get that opportunity with how bad my resume looked being 2 years out of school with barely anything to show for myself since I left school.
Sorry for the rambling I guess what I’m getting at is I’m worried that the nearly 2 year gap is going to come back and bite me still in the future. Whether it’s wanting to move up from my current position or if I find something else I’m interested in would I ever be able shake that gap? I’m a bad interviewer and I’m just worried it would come up and I wouldn’t know how to frame it.
