Why is it that so many employers are hellbent on only hiring full-time employees? Numerous studies have shown that the first X number of hours worked account for most of the productivity, and how production tends to drop off a cliff beyond said X number of hours. I've definitely found this true myself. Between 7am-noon I'm innovating, and beyond lunch I'm usually just breaking code.
Wouldn't an employer get more "bang for buck" by hiring part-time employees? So what gives? It is jealousy? Resentment? A stereotype of laziness? Not cut-throat enough for corporate America? "Difficult" to coordinate with someone working half time?
Why so difficult and unaccepted?
