Currently an assistant manager working for $12/hr. District manager said he'd bump me up to $13.50 for doing great work lately, but that was said a week ago. Work's not tough or stressful where I'm at and I like the hours I'm getting and usually get two days off each week. The past two weeks I've been helping out this other store doing manager tasks because the last manager was arrested. District manager wants me to take store manager positon here.
Additional info for next paragraph: I live around 40 miles away from the store he wants me to take over. (Commuting each day there is a big no from me.) Moving here would require me to find an apartment, cheapest being $450/month and all appliances are electric. So figure $700+ for housing/electricity. Already paying $500+ bills every month. So bill total is around $1300, not including food/anything else. I also enjoy my time at home and demolishing people on PUBG.
Being offered store manager position, salary at $47,280 a year, but required to come in 52 hours each week. Anything below or above 52 hours worked in a week is paid the same. District manager says some store managers usually aren't working 52 hours each week and are working less and he isn't checking their schedules/doesn't care. However, some managers, like the one at my store, have been working 65+ hours each week and are struggling to retain workers or get them to work their shifts. Thus, they are working more hours for the same pay, which I do not like. He is reinforcing that I won't be working more than 52+ hours each week, but I'm doubtful and have rejected the offer once before because of that.
Told him I'm not interested again, but he told me to sleep on it and see if I change my mind. I'm still not liking the offer, but I'm looking for advice on whether or not it's a good gig.
