Union job - reverting back to permanent position

I have a permanent status in a union position. I took a higher level (more money) position on a limited term basis. It turns out that this position is alot more responsibility with only a slight more money. Plus the boss is a complete narcissist that I just can't get along with.

Now this is a delicate situation since I have been at this job for 9months and it's limited one year position. What would you do guys do in this situation? suck it up to a full year then revert back to my position or talk to HR and go back right now. Both positions are technically at the same company, same location but with a different boss.
