Should I be too worried? Got a job offer pending a reference check but hasn't gotten back to me about the offer details?

Hi guys,

I got a job offer from a tech company on Friday. They called me telling me they would like to give out an offer, with a start date. I had to give two references and do a Sterling Background Check. Now this was on Friday, and we have a long weekend coming up here in Canada. The HR guy said he would call me later about the offer details, he was just waiting on a formalized approval.

I gave two of my references, and I am pretty close with one of my references and he told me the guy called, but he wasn't able to pick up. My reference called him, but he left a voicemail (this is around 3:38 PM, almost end of day). Should I be worried since the long weekend was coming up?

Also one of the team members connected with me on LinkedIn over the weekend, which was a good sign.
