I recently was offered another job contingent upon a clean background check, which I assume will take about a week from today. The start date for this new job is 5/27/2019. If the background check takes a week, I won't be officially hired until 5/8/2019. The problem I have is, I would like to give my current employer two weeks notice before leaving but, I will be on vacation from 5/16 -5/22 basically turning two week's notice into one week if I were to give them notice as soon as I got hired. My current employer was aware of me being on vacation these days very early this year. The start date for the new job is set and cannot be changed.
Is it that important that the two weeks notice be continuous without vacation? I'm confident that nothing would come up in the background check so, in theory, I could just put in my two weeks tomorrow and avoid this issue. What do you guys think?
