I live in British Columbia Canada(relevant info)
i work 4 ten hour shifts and despite the paper i signed stating my shift schedule all fridays since i started here 5 moths a go gave been mandatory and in my 5 months of working there iv had maybe 2 Fridays off(1 to equipment failure and 1 because i was sick)
i signed a shift agreement for 4 ten hour shifts and im really getting burnt out working 5 days a week when the other sections only have voluntary OT and are almost always off on Fridays bar about 2 times in my whole time working here
when i was hired here it was never disclosed that this was a normal thing and im not sure of the laws regarding employer use of mandatory overtime in regards to how and when they can use it in British Columbia since iv been told by coworkers that its only supposed to be if the company is at risk of going under r but theres no way its been going under for 5 months when in our meetings Management is always bragging about how great the sales numbers are and ho we are making 56% more than last year
can any experts definitively tell me the laws on this in my province and perhaps give me some advice on how to deal with this BS
