I posted my resume to indeed.com and a company sent me a text wanting me to answer some interview questions online. They said the job was entirely online and all i needed to do was answer a series of about 20 questions through an email for them to review. None of the questions had the normal red flags that i look for in scams. The email included the job description which looked pretty legit. I looked at the company's website and it also looked okay. I called the number that texted me to ask some questions about the job and a guy answered but i could hardly understand him because his reception was really bad. I emailed my questions instead to which he answered some of them. A day after I sent my questions in, they sent me a letter of employment that i signed and scanned back to them. I havent sent them any banking information and they havent asked yet. They told me i would need to order some equipment for the position that they would send me a check for for me to print out and process through my bank app's photo check deposit feature. I just got the check and its for a relatively large amount of money (especially for me). I'm nervous to deposit it as it might somehow reveal some of my banking information to them. The pay seems a little too good to be true but i have seen higher wages for people in my field. Am i being paranoid or does this sound fishy?
