I'm starting a new job next week (college student in retail), and it's already been a headache with the manager. I told her my availability before my interview, during the interview, and in an online company form after being offered the job. Well, I went in yesterday to get my first schedule and only one of the days I'm working matches with my availability. I mentioned to the manager that I could work the hours given next week but that they're not in my availability for the future. She kind of looked disappointed and said she "thought I had open availability"... I gave her my availability again, omitting that I originally said I was not available to work Sundays. I guess I'll just suck it up and figure out something else for church/family time.
Also, during my interview I mentioned to her that I already have a prior commitment for school in 2 months that I would need 3 days off for. She said it would not be a problem, but now I'm wondering if she was even listening. Our schedules are written by her and posted in the computer room only. There's no online log or anything that I can submit these days on. Now I have to worry about taking a picture of my schedule to make sure it's not edited at all. Did I mention I wasn't notified that there would be on-call days each week until after I already accepted the job?
Should I just wait and see how the next few weeks go? Doesn't feel too good going into it next week.
