This might be a wall of text. I’ll do my best to not ramble.
I’m 29 years old and currently working at a place that doesn’t really satisfy me. Financially it’s ok ($30,000 a year, located in southeast USA) but I’m not really doing what I love. I come from a quick-service restaurant that really opened my eyes to what my strengths are and was able to really hone in on my skills and improve my weaknesses. For the sake of this post here’s a few of my strengths:
- I have a knack for identifying talent, I’ve hired and developed many leaders that have gone on to do great things and loved every minute of it. Empowering and developing others is a passion of mine.
- I can troubleshoot like it’s nothing. If there’s an issue going on I can ALWAYS come up with a solution or at least get us started in the right direction.
- I can figure out ways to improve businesses, whether it be a people problem or finding ways to spend less money by identifying weaknesses in processes
- I’m a work horse. I get into somewhere and learn everything I can about everything, on and off the clock. Because of that I’ve risen as far as I can rise in every job I’ve had since I was 16
- I UNFORTUNATELY can sell and talk people into things, I say unfortunately because while I enjoy that because it increases business, I’m not a fan of the grind that is involved lol. I’m always looking for ways to improve a business, and when I go out shopping or out to eat I always look at ways to improve those businesses (even though there’s nothing I can do about it lol)
So I say all that because I’m lost. I don’t have a bachelors degree because I messed around when I was younger and blew all my financial aid. I can still get an associates because of grants but that’s it, I can’t afford to get a bachelors right now (single income (for now) household of 2). Idk what kind of job to look for and I’ve been extremely depressed lately because I see all these people doing great things while I’m just hanging back, not knowing what the hell I’m doing. So my question is this:
What kind of job would you recommend me look for? I’ve researched and researched but can’t find type of lines of work to go into to utilize my strengths. If this isn’t the right sub for this question, please direct me somewhere because I’m really feeling down about this. Thank y’all!
