Hi everyone, so my first job out of college in San Francisco was abruptly ended 6 months in because I had to move back home to LA to help my brother through cancer treatment (he's doing well now). I have been doing part time work for a real estate investment company, as the head is a family friend who wanted to help us through a tough time, but now that my brother is through treatment the expiration date is ending with this arrangement. This leaves me with my past two work experiences on my resume being 6 months and 10 months, respectively. I can obviously justify the briefness of my past two work experiences in an interview, but I'm worried about even getting that far, because a hiring manager or anyone viewing my resume might just scrap it for the aforementioned reasons. Is there any way to explain the circumstances on the resume itself? Would you bring it up in a cover letter? Any and all insight would help. To give you a better idea I'm a 24M recent college grad looking for entry-level real estate analyst jobs.
