Hello all! First time posting here. I am currently a hotel night auditor for a smaller hotel in a town about 20 minutes from where I live. It is a very convenient drive since there is never any traffic on my commute to work and I dont have to take the interstates. My work life is also really easy since I started working nights. The hotel I work at only has 90 rooms, and we are usually sold out this time of the year but at night I barely see anyone and have ample free time to do whatever I want basically. It is pretty nice and very stress free.
The only issue is that I do not make that much money and my company offers no viable healthcare, only 401k. I will say I have been given a $2 raise in the 2 years I have been there which I think is pretty good but that is only because I was moved to nights and I doubt I will receive much more money now. (Making 11.50/hr). With my personal expenses only getting higher, I find myself just barely getting by with my bills and barely able to afford anything afterword.
With all of this in mind, I keep having an internal battle with myself about if I want to find somewhere else to work for more money. I do know of some larger hotels that may pay around $14 with benefits but it could also be a more stressful environment. Am I placing too much weight on my personal comfort at work? This is only my second job , and honestly I think I probably just need to bite the bullet and see if I can find somewhere that will be a little more viable for the long term.
I appreciate any feedback from you guys, and sorry in advance that this post is a litttle drawn out!
