For those who have to work odd hours sometimes (work events/take calls outside 9-5) but have a flexible office schedule, is it stressful?

By this I mean you may have to attend events or conference calls outside 9-5 BUT your time is compensated by having a more flexible office schedule (coming in later, leaving earlier).

Edit: I am under the impression that the 40 hours you work will balance out but I’m wondering if the varying schedule will impact work/life balance negatively.
