Best way to determine job security from interview?

I am having an in-person interview tomorrow and need advice on how to question a position's job security. The company caters to very big national clients and sounds like I can get a ton of experience working with these brands and learning new skills.

From the phone interview the manager really liked me and gave me the story on why they were creating this position full time. They said this position had strictly been freelance and now the company is thinking it would be much smarter to have as full time so they do not rotate between people. The manager said they are looking to give it the three month period of seeing if it works for the company.

While I am very interested in this job, my gut feeling is telling me something otherwise. I was recently laid off from my last company that downsized. For my next career move I want to go with a company I want to put in time with to advance. I know it is common that companies will do a three month probation period just to feel candidates out but the manager made this sound like it was more based upon the decision of the executives if it makes sense to keep the position full-time with the company.

Is there a particular way I can bring this up in my interview tomorrow to inquire further with them what the expectation is? I don't want to waste my time with something that is temporary and eventually will put me out of work again. Thanks for the advice in advance!
