Any advice for remote/contract work in ops/business/finance?

I've got a couple years of experience working as a manager of FP&A at a fairly large organization, before that was economic research for the government. At both jobs, I wore a multitude of different hats, doing everything from marketing, to ops, to finance, to valuations.

I think I've done everything life-wise that I set out to do, so now I'm looking to fill up my evenings / weekends with work so that I can retire a bit earlier.

Has anyone gone down this road in my particular field? My field is typically in-office work, no contracting and fully remote work only comes after a year+ with a company.
