Towards the end of the year I'll be moving from California to Austin, Texas with the goal of finding a new job & buying a house.
My wife is an electrical engr & I'm a chemical engr with ~5 years experience. Do we have enough weight in our fields to apply across country and request relocation? Or is this out of the question and should we just eat the relocation ($3-4K?) expenses on our own and put a friend's Austin address as our own?
My main concern is applying for some of the best fit jobs in the area & losing the opportunity altogether if the company highly prefers local candidates.
