I wonder what is the best way to explain why I left my last job. If it matters, I will be interviewing with the county for an entry level position. The background is that I had applied close to a year ago for this county position but did not hear back until 2 months ago to take the written exam. During this time, I was considering leaving my current job for these two reasons: for better pay of course and for a different work environment in my area's downtown (where the county job is) rather than be stuck working at a small office in my hometown to improve my social life. I pulled the trigger and quit without even having another job lined up so my last day was about a week ago. Thankfully around this time I got notice that I passed the written exam and was scheduled to interview with the county.
So right now I'm unemployed as of last week and job searching. I should also mention that I was only at my last job for 9 months which wasn't that long. My social life is dead so I was really motivated to quit and find a different job for a change of scenery. What is the best way to frame this during my interview?
