Extremely fearful of the phrase “Attention to Detail” in Job Description and in interviews?

I don’t think I’m extremely detail oriented. I had an experience when I was let go for making frequent typos in written (and external facing) work.

So when I see or hear the phrase “must be detail-oriented” during interviews,i become extremely fearful, because it reminds me of my experience of being let go. I’m also quite nervous when i see that phrase popping up in JDs for the same reason.

I would like to think that I’ve grown, but I still make careless mistakes now and then in my current job. While my boss don’t care much for it (he’ll just ask me to fix it), I feel that this fear is holding me back from applying (and accepting) new jobs.

Not sure if I’m being too hard on myself on this. Also, how do I become more detail oriented, because it seems like it’s a standard requirement in all jobs? I tend to drift off when checking my work, which ends up in me missing out stuff sometimes.
