Talking to manager about reduced hours.

I started a new part-time job a few weeks ago, and the hiring manager made it clear that I could expect a steady 25 hours per week since that was what I was most comfortable with. I've had a few bad experiences with past jobs that had no issue exploiting employee labor, no matter how overwhelming and detrimental to morale, productivity, and my mental health that it was, so to be hired by a place that made it a point to strive for a good work/life balance for employees was a huge relief.

Earlier this week, I had a conversation with one of the managers who asked about me taking on more hours, but I felt that doing so would be a bit too much for me, and that I would rather remain at my current schedule. They let me know that it was alright, and that my hours would remain the same. Lo and behold, the schedule comes out, and I only have one day off next week. I am not comfortable with this at all.

I need some advice. How do I deal with the anxiety of reminding my manager of our conversation, and making it clear, again, that I can't take on an increased workload right now? What should I do if they refuse to change the schedule, and they insist that I get a shift covered? I have to be honest; coworkers are always calling off left and right during the shifts I'm scheduled for. A lot of them are young and in school, and I fully expect to have no support from anyone. If they tell me to get a shift covered, no one's going to agree to it, and then I'll still be stuck in this situation that I never agreed to.

Any advice would be very appreciated.
