Hey guys, It’s me again, I appreciate all your advice and help. I landed the job and they asked me to start ASAP on Monday. And then this morning my dad had a stroke. It really doesn’t look good, I’m completely in shock. My dads really young and took care of himself and just the prognosis isn’t good. I had an appointment today to finish my paperwork and it timed out right where I was able to sneak away for an hour and get it done while he was getting an MRI.. I’m an optimist but I’m also a realist and I know his chances of survival are very very bad. I’ve also worked tirelessly to land this job, and I’m scared to ask for another week off before I start. And I know expenses will soon follow and I want to be able to help my mom out financially in the future. My dad told me to take care of her when he goes... And she isn’t coping well. But at the same time I’m not sure I’m ready to handle work this week.. I’m staying at the hospital all night tonight and tomorrow he under goes brain surgery and who knows what else. Should I ask my new employer for a later start week? Do you think they will understand? I’m sorry for the long rant... been keeping this all bottled up and trying to stay strong for my dad.
Adulthood really happens fast.....
