When does Age Discrimination Really Start?

I know this sounds like a loaded question, but I'm more referring to corporate operations, finance or IT. I'm pondering a graduate certification next year and will be 35 when i start, 36 when I finish. This possibility excites me, but it would steer my career to a different direction. While this is what I'm looking for, age discrimination is a bit of a concern. How worried should an over 35 year old be for experiencing age discrimination after pursuing a major career change?
