Wasn't sure how to title this one. So I was recently offered a job. It is to cover a girl for maternity leave. I told him obviously I was looking for full-time permanent (so mat. leave wouldn't work), and he told me that his plan when this girl returns is to then move me to another position within the company, and move the girl currently there to a higher position, so it would be permanent, just a different role after 18 months. He went on to tell me he likes to invest in his employees, etc. etc. which is clear because he is paying for me to take a ($4000) online University course to gain additional knowledge required for the job. However, I just received the employment contract and it states the following;
This the start Contract date. If shall the begin contract on requires March 4th, an 2019 extension, and end a new approximately contract will eighteen be completed (18) months 2 months from prior to this contract expiring. Further employment at the end of this term will be negotiated and defined based on 1815513 Ontario Inc's business needs at that time.

Termination of Employment
This Employment Contract will terminate on the date established as the "duration of contract" date. Upon completion of this Employment Contract, Melissa agrees that there will be no required payment of notice or severance. In the event of any breach of contract by Melissa of any of the terms of this employment contract, 1815513 Ontario Inc may terminate employment without notice and with compensation to Melissa only to the date of said termination. etc. etc.
I'm worried that when the 18 months is up, he'll just get rid of me. Should I accept the position and take the risk? I should mention the position is much better than the one I'm in now, and he seemed sincere when he discussed the details of his plans to keep me and move me to a different position etc.
TL;DR Was promised to be kept on after girl returns from mat. leave but employment contract states strict 18 month term
