Is my husband too old and out of shape to go back to school for a trade job?

So my husband has been a driver for a long time. Not CDL level though and he doesn't want to continue in that so has been thinking of going back to school. Trades can pay very well and he is good with things like that but in 2 years he'll be 40. Is that too old to go back to school for a trade he's never worked in and get hired? He's also really out of shape. Like over 100 lbs overweight. I'm thinking that would play a part in how successful he would be doing the work as well as his ability to get hired. What are your thoughts about that though? Is there a specific trade where those factors wouldn't affect things as much? We also would need something that pays decently right off the bat since we do have a family to support.
