I have a question about whether to negotiate an offer I recently received. The offer is for a very high salary, far higher than what I expected for the city. However, the state offers virtually no employment benefits. The employer offers no health insurance, no PTO/sick leave, no 401k, etc, which is consistent with the state's labor laws. This would be my first job out of school, so I am unsure of how to proceed. I don't know if I should assume that the high offer is meant to accommodate for the lack of benefits, or if asking for more will result in recission of the officer. Also, importantly, I would be moving across the country for the job. Do I ask for a relocation fee? Any help would be very, very appreciated.
