As a contractor I took over an existing customer site when they got pulled for somewhere else. They had been there for ~10 years. We only have one person from our company there everyday and the backup had trained for ahout 2 months before they trained me for a day and a half to take over. I tried my best to call the old person whenever something new came up but ultimately I felt like I was set up to fail because I wasnt told half the things they expected us to do and the system that they had set up. I feel like if I could prepare and knew what they expected I know I could have stayed on top of it.
Now about after a month im hearing the customer wants someone with more experience with the site which makes me really anxious I've heard my managers talking about replacing me. I tried to ask people at the site how things were done and they were no help..Honestly knowing they've reached out to my company now makes me really not want to be at the site anymore or put any effort like I was into figuring anything out. I understand that's immature but that is one part that really bothers me. does anyone have any tips? I'm not sure what to think of it.. I've been blaming myself, my friends say its poor management, but I dont know how to redeem myself.. I dont want my manager to think I cant do anything
TLDR ; assigned to a job with little training, customer says they want someone with more experience with the site and they want to pull me from the project, is this my fault? How can I redeem myself?
Thanks guys sorry for the rambling
