Applied for a summer National Park job one month ago and have not heard anything yet. Should I contact them?

I applied for a summer job to work for Xanterra, which is concessionaire company that is contracted in various US National Parks. I applied during the first week of January and received a confirmation that they received my application, but I have not heard anything since. Due to the government shutdown, I was thinking that it is possible Xanterra's HR people were taking time off as well. From what I've read online, Xanterra employs just about anyone who applies, and I have a clean record and good grades from my university, so I would think I have a really good chance. Is it worth contacting them now, or should I wait a bit longer since the job would not start until the end of May?
