Advice on how to ask recruiter about upleving role

I had a recruiter from a really good company I’d be excited to work at reach out.

However, the job he is reaching out about is 2 levels lower than my current title (and I’m slated to be promoted in a couple of months). I reached out to a friend who works at the company and he confirmed the leveling between our 2 companies is the same.

How do I tactfully express my interest in the company and role while asking about upleveling the title. I don’t want to turn the recruiter off but I also don’t want to keep pursuing this if there is no room to negotiate.
