Hi all. I've been working at my marketing job for about a year now and it's been going well. I take the occasional sick day and just took ~5 days PTO for the holidays (on top of the actual holiday days).
However, I've been super sick since Tuesday. Here's how things have gone:
- Monday - Went into the office, was fine
- Tuesday - Went into the office, was fine until after work
- Wednesday - Went into the office late (with notice/permission) since I had been up all night puking; left an hour and a half early to see the doctor
- Thursday - Worked from home because I felt sick (we have 1 WFH day/week)
- Friday - Went to work, but left half an hour early because I started puking and had to go to urgent care.
So basically... I haven't kept any food down since Tuesday and I'm extremely weak/miserable. I've gone to two doctors and they've just kind of shrugged at me & don't know what's wrong. Tomorrow is a huge day because our team is launching some new stuff on our company's site and I absolutely can't miss work, but I was thinking of working from home.
I feel like it'd look bad, though... most people aren't sick for this long, and I'm stressing over it. I offered my boss a doctor's note and she said she didn't need one. Technically, I only missed half a day last week, but I'm worried I'm going to look like I'm faking it.
What should I do? Should I go ahead and text my boss before Monday, explaining the situation? (Texting is her preferred communication for stuff like this.) Or should I suck it up and pretend I'm not sick?
Update: Boss okay'd me to stay home, didn't seem annoyed at all!
