Tips for networking?

From what I understand most jobs are acquired via networking. The job I hold now was acquired just by knowing someone within the company. The relationship was a close family friend and I happen to get lucky. They needed people and I just happen to need a job. The company even trained me for 3 months when I had close to no prior experience. Networking is very powerful, but how can I expand my connections with people when seeking a new job?

I currently work as a customer service representative/dispatcher for a logistics company in the north Virginia area. In April I will hit one year with the company. I currently work the night shift and I'm looking for a day/evening job. This is due to a recent mental health diagnoses that significantly impacts my health working at night. I would work the day/evening shift at my current job but the only reason I even got hired was due to the fact I'm working nights. All the seats a full for those shifts. I don't hold a degree in anything so I'm going back to school at the moment vis community college. Im going back to school via online so its difficult to even meet anyone in person. I've applied to 100+ jobs, had a handful of interviews, been rejected by all of them. I am currently 22 to help give better perspective.

Any tips to help my situation? Besides having regular family and friend what can I do to meet recruiters or HR within companys to help me nail a job?

TL;DR - Need tips for networking my way to a day/evening job. I work at night and due to a recent mental health diagnoses I need to find something in the day in order to stop my life from spiraling out of control even more. Tips?
