I got a verbal offer, which I am excited about, and am waiting for a written offer. They asked for references.
I sent 4 references to the hiring manager and emailed all of them. One of them hasn’t responded to me after emailing her to let her know I got the job and confirm it would be ok to use her as a reference (she told me it’s ok months ago when I was looking).
I’m happy with the good news but also a bit anxious about the whole verbal to written offer going smoothly. Are references usually contacted by phone or email? What kinds of questions are employers asking/allowed to ask? The job is in California btw.
If the references are delayed in getting back to the hiring manager, is that ok/normal?
