Occupational Limbo

I feel like I’m in an occupational limbo. I recently left a job after about a year and will start another one soon in about a week.

I had an awful, gossipy supervisor at my old job. It seemed that they were intimidated by me and would do anything to “keep me in my place”. FYI their boss and their boss’ boss loved me and said I was welcome to come back.

This experience was really quite terrible as this was one of my first office jobs. I was scared and miserable and had suicidal thoughts daily.

The new job is much better in many ways. Higher position, much higher salary, etc. The problem is I just can’t shake the fear that this job will be more of the same. Like what if I was the problem all along?

I just need some advice and maybe an anecdote or two to help get me in the right mindset.
