Like my title says, I just got promoted at my job and I’m happy about it! I’m going from a labor position taking care of animals to an administrative assistant position, which is more related to what I’m going to school for.
I’m very excited about this new position, which I start Monday, but I also have some worries:
1) a lot of people are mad I got this job because everyone knew someone that applied for it and was hoping they would get it. they were upset enough about it to call my supervisor and say things such as “well mike’s wife applied for the job and interviewed”. so already there is a certain unhappiness about me getting the job from people that I’ll be working with and sort of being in charge of? I’m worried about not being taken seriously.
2) as dumb as this may seem, I have no clue what to wear. it’s an office setting, but it seems rather casual. the men wear t-shirt’s or collared shirts, jeans, and sneakers. the women’s outfits vary though; some wear blouses and jeans with heels while some wear leggings with sweaters and Uggs. I don’t want to overdress, but I definitely don’t want to underdress either.
3) I’m going from a work environment that could only have prepackaged foods to now being able to bring in whatever I want to eat. any advice? should I get a lunchbox and containers? any recommendations?
