Is it worth pursuing a part time job in an unrelated field while working on getting IT certifications?

I have law enforcement experience, but I don't want to do anything related to policing anymore.

I am good with computers/technology and I am interested in IT, but I need experience.

Would it be worth it to pursue a part time job in anything while working on getting an A+ certification to make my way into IT?

(I have a business mgmt. degree, and I'm young)
