I have nothing against recruiters. In fact, I am completely aware that there is only so much that they can control when it comes to hiring a candidate especially in a creative position. The creative director hiring might have a lot of expectations, the budget at hand might be very less, setting up interview times itself can be cumbersome (it's hard enough to make plans with people you know - here you're fixing a meeting between unknown parties!). Having said all this, human resources have something in their job description that a lot of us don't have. The word 'Human'. The ability to empthaise, the skill-set to make talent feel valued and of course, access to Whatsapp/email at anytime. Your candidate is anxious, he or she begins undermining their talent, they become bitter, they settle... Just because a lot of times there are little to no follow ups and the candidate is simply ghosted. I have seen this happening to a close friend of mine and it broke my heart to see her go through this. So stop what you're doing for 30 seconds. Just text your candidate a word or two. That word can also be 'no'. Let them move on. For HR rockstars who already do this, thanks for being a bro. :)
