Can recruiters be even trusted?

Recruiting agencies have very bad reputations because of how they treat job seekers but many companies still use recruiters as an easy way out to get employees. This is a torture trying to contact recruiters without knowing what they are up to behind my back. They often cheat and lie to get job seekers sign the job contract without properly briefing them on the job scope. After the contract is signed, some of these low life scum will threaten a lawsuit against the job seeker if he/she decides to break the contract because the job isn't what was being stated. I refuse to take the risk and get into all the trouble with any lawsuit. It is simply impossible to tell if the recruiter is genuinely trying to help or is a subhuman scum.
