Am I not getting paid enough?

I recently graduated college in June with a public relations degree and immediately got hired at a nonprofit organization. I've been the assistant for their Community Relations director, building the strategy for their fundraising and communications, content creation for their website, and writing their monthly newsletter. I've been making $15/hour as a contractor with no benefits. They also just brought me on as an administrative project coordination assistant for our end of a research project that screens families for developmental delays. I'll be building the spreadsheets, protocols, flowcharts, and general content, and am basically in charge of getting the entire project off the ground, in which I'd call myself the de-facto project manager. I'm getting the same amount of hours for the same amount of pay, but it feels like I'm really just going to be doing more work and everyone is saying I should ask for more. I would definitely define myself as a "PR and Marketing Assistant," and they make at least $40k a year, and I'm making a little more than half that. Is it realistic for me to demand more pay or leave?
