Take it or leave it?

Hi r/jobs, I am asking for your advice.

Currently, I am working in a job that I am not passionate about and that doesn't provide me with growth opportunities. Luckily, the job is ending in June of 2019 and I should be grateful that it pays pretty well for me to sit and do nothing. But i have been on the same track since last year and I am growing very anxious from not doing/learning/achieving much.

I have been actively job searching since end of October and luckily received one internal offer. However, I see that as a backup because I don't think the perk is that great with my current company and the environment that I will be working in doesn't really excites me.(albeit, it is a huge improvement from my current one). I will have till before the holidays to respond.

I also have been applying to my old company in the same area but I haven't heard much from them other from their recruiters reaching out to me about my applications. I am imagining the slowness is due to the system and end of year activities.

On the other hand, I just got off a phone interview with a recruiter of a start-up company that I am really excited about. However, the hiring process won't resume till next year and I am merely at phone interview stage.

SO should I a.) take the offer that I have at hand? b.)reject the offer and roll the dice with either my old company or the start-up? c.) take the offer now but quit once i get a *better* offer?

I think C is the most detrimental but it will give me the most freedom.
