TL:DR - had a christmas party, company bigshots sexually harassing staff members (none of whom were me). Feeling very weird about it.
Hi guys, I honestly don't know of a subreddit this dilemma would apply to. I thought this one seemed tangentially related? Please redirect me elsewhere if its not applicable however.
So essentially a couple of days ago was our company staff party, and I was pleasantly sloshed by about an hour in (free booze hooray).
Whilst there there was some very questionable behaviour going on - some of the company higher ups dancing with younger employees, in particular women who are in some ways directly answerable to those higher ups. Again, I was sloshed so didn't pay much mind to it.
After that we went to a different bar, and one of these guys came with and was grinding up on one of my friends who looked VERY uncomfortable. I pulled her outside for a cigarette and spoke to her about it, and apparently two or three of the higher ups do this every year, grope the girls, occasionally try and go home with them, and ALWAYS its the guys with wives and children. This friend works from home a lot and thus said she didn't want to complain because she didn't fancy the hassle really.
Later that same weird guy picked up a random from the bar and went home with her.
I wasn't even thinking about it until today when I saw him strolling around the office, I turned to the guy next to me and said: 'hey how weird is it that we watched that guy groping unreceptive women and then cheating on his wife Tuesday night?'
The thing is I feel very weird about it. He didn't grope me (I'm a guy...), no one else seems to mind, and much as the girls who this happened to were annoyed at the time it feels like everyone just takes it for granted as 'something that happens once a year, just gotta deal with it'.
Anyone have any input on this? I'm not sure I even need advice, I'm not trying to be a white knight or whatever and I certainly don't want to jeopardize my career - I'm very aware that if it came to it these guys are higher up in the hierarchy than I am.
Should I speak to one of the girls about it? HR? Just let it lie?
