Planning on quitting my job, best way to go about it?

So I’m working part time at a restaurant atm, and I have decided I’m going to quit sometime soon. I haven’t signed any contract at all, do I still need to give a certain amount of notice? Does it have to be a letter? I’ve never quit anything before so I’m clueless! Any advice appreciated. Am in the UK.
