Hi all,
Today I got the contract for a new job, and I noticed that one of the clauses states I need to give 4 weeks notice before resigning. Is that odd? 2 weeks is, to my knowledge, the standard in almost all situations.
My concern is that when I eventually decide to leave in a few years, telling a prospective employer they'll have to wait a whole month for me to start could be a deal breaker. I'm fresh out of college and will be filling junior roles for the next few years. It's not like people will be standing around waiting to hand me a job.
Am I basically signing up to never be able to leave the job? Or is there some universe where this is the norm? Or maybe it's just not a big deal at all... Not sure.
