Is sending an email directly after applying on Indeed, LinkedIn, etc., letting them know I applied, a good idea?
I'm not talking about waiting two weeks as a follow-up. What I'm talking about is cutting through the noise and letting a company know I'm serious by sending an email directly after applying on a job search site, such as Indeed.
"Hello company,
I just wanted to let you know that I just applied for X position on Indeed. I appreciate your time, and look forward to hearing from you. If needed, I have my resume and cover letter attached."
Something like that, but way more professional.
I feel like applications sent through those sites barely get read. I believe it's a good idea to show that you're serious by sending a short email saying "Hey, I'm here, I just applied" so they know and the resume doesn't get lost.
I've talked with career coaches and many of them say it's a good idea, but I'm wondering what everyone here thinks. Is it a good idea? If so, what would you say in the email?
Thank you!
